Internet governance was one of the most controversial issues during the first phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS-I), held in Geneva in December 2003.
IGF INITIATIVES
This Toolkit is based on inputs from existing and emerging IGF Initiatives, and draws on their suggestions for information that describes the basic requirements for an IGF initiative to be listed on the IGF website.

Established in 2006, the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) In conjunction with United Nations Internet Governance Forum serves as a collaborative platform dedicated to addressing a wide array of internet governance issues within Bangladesh. Operating under a multistakeholder model, BIGF brings together diverse stakeholders—including government officials, civil society representatives, academia, the private sector, and international organizations—to foster dialogue, share insights, and promote best practices in internet governance.
Our Mission
At BIGF, our mission is to facilitate discussions around the evolving landscape of internet governance in Bangladesh. We believe that a multistakeholder approach is crucial for creating an inclusive digital environment. Our objective is to encourage active participation from all sectors of society in shaping policies and making informed decisions regarding the internet and digital technologies. Core Activities
Annual Forum
Our flagship event gathers leaders and representatives from government, civil society, academia, and the private sector to engage in comprehensive discussions on internet governance themes.
